This is a re-write of my original negative review of this filter, which discussed an observed dramatic slow down of flow rate very early in the filters life. This slow down could not be remedied using the cleaning protocol. This is a very common observation discussed in many reviews.I "stumbled" on this fix: At the very end of the instruction sheet, it's suggested that air trapped in the loops of the filter filaments could reduce flow rates. The sheet offers a simple fix, which largely equates to squeezing water out of the bottle with the top pointed upwards, the opposite of the filter's position in normal use. Located where the suggestion is, at the very end of the sheet after the suggestion to replace a slow filter with a new one, it's certainly a tip that's very easy to overlook or forget!I haven't had a chance to continue using the filter in the field, so I can't be sure, but I suspect the slowdown many people are observing might be caused by trapped air. In my case, performing the trapped air release brought my filter back to 85% of new, back up from the 30% I was observing.
